Biokar Modified Lauryl Sulfate Tryptose (mLST) vancomycin Broth is a ready-to-use medium designed for the selective isolation and enumeration of vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) from clinical specimens. This medium, prepared according to ISO 7899-2, contains selective agents and vancomycin to inhibit the growth of most Gram-negative bacteria, vancomycin-susceptible enterococci, and other Gram-positive bacteria. The inclusion of chromogenic substrates enables the differentiation of VRE from other enterococci, as VRE colonies display blue or purple colors on the medium.
