Biokar BAIRD-PARKER RPF Agar is a selective medium for the isolation and enumeration of coagulase-positive Staphylococcus aureus from various samples. The kit includes 6 90 mL vials of ready-to-melt base medium and 6 vials of RPF supplement.
Benefits/Advantages:
• Selectivity: The inclusion of Rifampicin, Potassium Tellurite, and Polymyxin B inhibits the growth of most Gram-negative bacteria and many Gram-positive bacteria, while allowing the growth of S. aureus.
• Sensitivity: The medium contains Egg Yolk Tellurite and Lithium Chloride, promoting the production of enzymes that result in a characteristic black to gray colony coloration for S. aureus.
• Easy to use: The ready-to-melt format minimizes errors and contamination during preparation.
• Quality Control: Each lot is quality controlled to ensure performance and compliance with standards.
Storage: Base medium and supplement should be stored at 2-8°C. Prepared medium can be stored for up to one week at the same temperature.
